Cleaning Solutions for Natural Carpets

  1. Vinegar solution: Mix ¼ cup of water with ¼ cup white vinegar.
  2. Detergent solution: Mix a teaspoon of liquid dishwashing detergent into a cup of warm water.
  3. Solvent solution: Use an oil solvent or a nail polish remover.
  4. Ammonia solution: Mix a tablespoon of ammonia with ½ cup warm water.

  1. Vinegar solution: Mix a cup of vinegar with 2 cups of water.

Ways To Remove Stains From Carpets

1) Food and Drink Stains

  • Spray the detergent solution on the stain.
  • Blot with a dry cloth and allow to sit for a few minutes.
  • Spray the vinegar solution on the stain, then blot again with a dry cloth.
  • Spray the stain with warm water then blot with a dry cloth.
  • Repeat the steps until the stain is removed.

SYNTHETIC CARPETS

  • Dip a white cloth into the detergent solution and repeatedly dab the stain, pressing the cloth for a few seconds.
  • Allow sitting for 15 minutes.
  • Dip a cloth into the vinegar solution and repeatedly dab the stain.
  • Allow sitting for another 15 minutes.
  • Rinse by blotting with a cloth soaked in warm water.
  • Wait for an hour or until it completely dried.
  • Repeat these steps until the stain is gone.

NOTE:

For chocolates, candy, juice, berries, soda, milk, and wine stains, before you apply the vinegar solution, you can spray an ammonia solution to the stain then blot with a dry cloth. For Gatorade, ketchup, tomato sauce, and Koo-Aid stains, substitute the ammonia solution for the vinegar solution.

  • Apply a small amount of solvent solution to a clean rag and blot the stain.
  • Spray the stain with a detergent solution then blotting again.
  • Spray the stain with warm water then blot with a dry cloth.
  • Wait for at least 1 hour or until the carpet dries completely.
  • Repeat the steps until the stain is gone.

SYNTHETIC CARPETS

  • Apply a small amount of solvent to a white cloth and dab onto the spot, repeatedly pressing for a few seconds.
  • Rinse the solution by blotting with a cloth soaked in warm water.
  • Wait for an hour or until the carpet dries up completely.
  • Repeat the steps until the stain is gone.

3) Mud and Dirt

  • Break it with a blunt object like a spatula and vacuum the debris.
  • Apply solvent then blot the stain.
  • Rinse by using a cloth soaked in warm water.

  • Spray the stain with the detergent solution and blot with a dry cloth.

NOTE:

In order to remove the odor from your carpet and prevent your pet from peeing into the carpet again, you can use an enzyme cleaner to destroy the odor-causing bacteria before rinsing the carpet with warm water.
